Tropical Storm Elsa Updates

Tropical Storm Update
For Immediate Release

July 7, FLETC-Glynco, Resumption of Training Operations

The FLETC-Glynco training delivery point will resume normal operations on Thursday, July 8. All remaining scheduled training this week will move forward one day, and FLETC will conduct training on Saturday, July 10, to make up for the missed training day.

Thank you to all staff who prepared FLETC to weather Tropical Storm Elsa; helped to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and facilities; and reconfigured the training schedule to ensure smooth resumption of operations.

July 7, FLETC-Charleston:

The FLETC-Charleston training delivery point (TDP) will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, July 8, based on Tropical Storm Elsa’s current projected track. Training will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Charleston and end at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.  Meal service for Thursday, July 8th, will remain the same for breakfast and lunch. The hours of service for dinner will be pushed back and run from 5:15pm – 8pm to accommodate the additional training time.

Charleston staff who typically work onsite should report for work at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. The training day will end at 6:30 p.m. Charleston employees on teleworker should work their normal schedules. If you have any questions regarding your work schedule please consult with your immediate supervisor.

Please stay tuned to your local media for additional storm updates.

July 6, FLETC Glynco:

FLETC, in consultation with local emergency management officials, has canceled Wednesday's training at the Glynco, Georgia, training delivery point (TDP).  Based on the probability of local flooding and elevated winds that tropical storm Elsa is expected to deliver, FLETC has directed all students to shelter in place on Wednesday.

FLETC has rescheduled all Wednesday, July 7, training to take place on Thursday, July 8, at Glynco, with all remaining scheduled training days moving forward one day. FLETC will conduct training on Saturday, July 10, to make up Wednesday’s missed training day.

FLETC will continue monitoring the storm’s track, and will provide additional information about operations at FLETC-Charleston as our emergency operations planning dictates.

FLETC’s Emergency Management and Continuity (EMC) Branch will continue to monitor the storm and we will provide updates as needed on FLETC’s internal and external platforms, and the FLETC 1-800 number (see list below).  Please check back frequently to ensure you have the latest information.
