Description

The Seized Computer Evidence Recovery Specialist (SCERS) training program teaches fundamental forensic techniques for the analysis of electronic data from Windows desktop computer systems and selected peripherals. It is designed as a comprehensive digital forensics introductory program of instruction for novice examiners or those who wish to update their skill/tool set. The SCERS training program tuition includes student-issued state-of-the-art software. The goal of the program is to provide the software and training to enable the graduate to examine Microsoft Windows-based digital evidence.

Prerequisites

Applicant must be a law enforcement officer/agent, direct law enforcement support personnel (DLESP), or employee of a federal, state, local, tribal or international agency, who performs functions directly related to a law enforcement or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Applicant must have successfully completed Digital Evidence Acquisition Specialist Training (DEASTP), or equivalent. Applicant must have experience with Microsoft Windows OS or equivalent GUI based system(s) and experience in imaging in a forensically sound manner.
