Born in Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ, Wright’s path to law enforcement began with his service in the United States Marine Corps. Joining in 1987, he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Simon Lake submarine tender in Dunoon, Scotland, as part of the Marine Corps Security Force Battalion. His responsibilities included safeguarding critical areas of the ship, an experience that ingrained in him the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and duty—values he continues to uphold in his law enforcement career.
Wright’s career in law enforcement began in 1994 as a Police Dispatcher for the Camden City Police Department. He later became a patrol officer, worked in the Tactical Force Unit, and joined the SWAT team as a designated sniper. His expertise in firearms training led him to the role of Rangemaster, where he oversaw in-service qualifications and use-of-force training. These experiences, paired with his later tenure as a firearms instructor at FLETC in Charleston and Glynco, shaped his approach to his current role.
As a Regional Training Coordinator, Wright focuses on aligning training priorities with current events and legislative interests. His ability to build professional relationships with law enforcement at the strategic level has been key to ensuring that the training needs of agencies are met efficiently. His leadership has a direct impact on enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement personnel across Region 4.
Wright’s personal life is just as fulfilling as his professional one. He has been happily married for 13 years and enjoys spending time with his two sons. A sports enthusiast, he participates in activities such as football, soccer, and track & field.
