FLETC Delivers Training to Local Law Enforcement

For Immediate Release

St. Augustine, FL — This week, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) delivered the Women in Law Enforcement Leadership Training Program (WLELTP) to sworn women law enforcement leaders from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Beach Police Department, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Augustine Police Department, Fernandina Beach Police Department and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

The program provides tools for women leaders and leadership training specifically for women in the law enforcement profession.  It is an opportunity for these women to share challenges and help them create a support network for the future.

Kenya Gaines of Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said, “As a newly promoted Sergeant, I couldn’t have taken this course at a better time.  I’ve learned how to be a leader and I feel empowered.”

The WLELTP concluded today with an executive panel discussion.  Participants on the panel included FLETC Director Connie Patrick and two chiefs from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Chief Michelle Cook, Patrol Division East, and Chief Ron Lendvay, Homeland Security and Narcotics/Vice Division.

During the panel discussion, FLETC Director Patrick spoke about her law enforcement experience.  Patrick said, “Understanding human behavior has helped me tremendously.  This class focuses on understanding personalities which makes us successful leaders.”
