FLETC-Charleston Turns 10, Renews Partnership with Joint Base Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON- Today, the Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) Connie Patrick delivered remarks at a ceremony celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the establishment of the FLETC-Charleston training site North Charleston, South Carolina.   
 
"The FLETC Charleston provides realistic training opportunities for law enforcement agencies that serve in the maritime environment," said Patrick.

During the celebration, Patrick was joined by Deputy Commander of Joint Base Charleston Captain Timothy Sparks, USN, in the signing of a new facility use agreement, reaffirming the long-standing partnership.  The FLETC has used the Joint Base Charleston-Weapons Station for its firearms training since 2004.   

Elected officials, Congressional staff members, local community leaders, Partner Organization representatives and FLETC staff were in attendance.   

Throughout the past 10 years, FLETC-Charleston has trained over 62,000 students to help protect our homeland.

The FLETC trains the majority of federal officers and agents in the United States. In addition to providing training for over 90 federal partner organizations, FLETC also provides training to state, local, tribal and international police in selected advanced programs; graduates approximately 70,000 students annually and is the largest law enforcement training organization in the country.

Headquartered on a 1600-acre campus at Glynco, near Brunswick, Georgia, the FLETC operates facilities in Artesia, New Mexico; Charleston, South Carolina; and Cheltenham, Maryland. The FLETC also has oversight responsibility on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security for the International Law Enforcement Academies at Gaborone, Botswana; and Bangkok, Thailand.
