Glynco, GA - Today the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) held the 9/12 Multipurpose Center Groundbreaking Ceremony at its headquarters in Glynco, Georgia.
The facility is named the “9/12 Multipurpose Center” as a symbolic gesture representing how our country changed immediately following the tragic events of 9/11, eventually leading to the birth of the Department of Homeland Security. The multipurpose center is designed to evoke contemplation of the calling answered by those who choose to become law enforcement officers and agents in the service of our nation.
The 17,500 square-foot, state-of-the art facility addresses the government’s emphasis on efficiency and gives the FLETC a multi-purpose facility for events and to support government conferences in the local area. It will be located directly beyond the front gate.
FLETC Director Connie Patrick said, “FLETC will be proud to put this new facility to use to honor and enhance the training of the men and women who secure our country and preserve our freedoms.”
The 9/12 Multipurpose Center is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016.
Guests included Congressman-elect Buddy Carter, local community leaders, and FLETC and Partner Organization leadership.
