BRUNSWICK, GA – Officials at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) are proud to announce that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson recognized several FLETC employees for their outstanding achievements at the 2015 Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Awards Ceremony on Nov. 3 in Washington, D.C. At this year’s ceremony 329 DHS employees received awards. FLETC staff received a DHS Team Award for piloting the Private-Public Partnership Academy. The goal of this training was to bring together public and private organizations critical to shopping center security and have them participate in training focused on securing public venues, with a broader goal of improving coordination, security, and resiliency. “We must proactively train and collaborate across public and private sectors to work as a team to mitigate, prevent and respond to threats,” said Director Connie Patrick. While FLETC trains thousands of students annually, this was the first time it did so with private and public sector participants. FLETC employees receiving an award include: • Valerie Atkins, John Lander, Kevin McCarthy, Vicki O’Connor, Dana O’Quinn, Martin Roddini and Jennifer Tocco. “I am proud of the contributions that FLETC team members provide not only to our organization, but also to our nation,” said Director Connie Patrick. “I consider it an honor to work with these individuals, and the many others who comprise the FLETC family.” To learn more about the Public Private Partnership, please see page 8 of the Fall/Winter Edition of the FLETC Journal: https://www.fletc.gov/sites/default/files/FLETC%20Journal%20Fall%20Wint…
