DHS Day on the Hill 2019

For Immediate Release

Director Walters attended the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Day on the Hill on Thursday, Oct. 24. The open-house style event hosted approximately 150 congressional staffers taking this opportunity to learn more about the Department. DHS component representatives provided information about their missions, displayed interesting technologies, and highlighted new initiatives. FLETC representatives talked about state, local, and tribal training missions; demonstrated hands-on cyber training; and highlighted new human trafficking training strategies. Staffers showed engagement and enjoyed learning about FLETC.

“Our DHS day on the hill this year had the flavor of a swap meet. The interest, energy and noise levels were high, and good questions and good answers were in generous supply,” said Director Walters.

FLETC takes every opportunity to engage with Members of Congress and staff to provide education on the mission of the agency and the collaborative nature of training development and delivery. This is done not only on Capitol Hill, but also at all FLETC training delivery points, at training events hosted by congressional offices in their home districts and states, and via congressional staff attendance at state, local, and tribal training that FLETC delivers across the nation.
