Readout of FLETC Deputy Director Presentation at St. Simons Island Rotary Club Meeting

For Immediate Release

Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) Deputy Director William Fallon gave a presentation to the St. Simons Island Rotary Club about FLETC’s mission and impact on the local community. Approximately 75 community members attended the monthly meeting July 23, 2019.

Deputy Director Fallon shared with attendees that FLETC, its participating organizations, and its contractors employ more than 2,400 people from the local and surrounding areas. Additionally, FLETC has 2,500 to 3,000 students at any given time in training programs at the Glynco site.

Deputy Director Fallon spoke of high profile law enforcement operations from our nation’s history in which FLETC graduates lost their lives. For example, FLETC trained law enforcement personnel who sacrificed their lives at Ruby Ridge near Naples, Idaho, in 1992; in Waco, Texas, in 1993; in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1995; and in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.  Mr. Fallon spoke of FLETC’s utmost commitment to training those who protect our nation to safely and effectively perform law enforcement operations and respond to emergencies such as active shooter events.

Deputy Director Fallon stated, “The officers and agents who train at FLETC, not unlike our military veterans, serve our nation and risk their lives every day. I am proud of them and our instructors who prepare them for what they will face in the field. We see many heroes each day at FLETC, right here in our community. “
