Description
The Maritime Tactical Operations Training Program (MTOTP) involves extensive hands-on instruction pertaining to tactical boarding procedures aboard High Interest/High Threat Vessels (HIV/HTV). During the Laboratory and Practical Exercise phase, students conduct several underway “HIV-Low-Freeboard” tactical boarding operations utilizing a 65’ motor vessel. Students conduct boarding operations on several static boat platforms and conduct several High-Freeboard “Hook and Climb Insertion” techniques on a 494 foot long “break-bulk” freighter. This is a physically demanding course.
Prerequisites
- Applicant must be a law enforcement officer/agent with arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention and/or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of federal, state, local, tribal, or military criminal laws.
- Must be in good physical condition with no medical restrictions.
- Must be able to perform:
- 1 ½ mile run (under 13:48) or 400 meter swim (under 12 minutes)
- 5 dead hang pull-ups (untimed)
- 5 dead hang chin-ups (untimed)
- 32 push-ups (untimed)
- 38 sit-ups (under one minute)
Required Training Materials
Appropriate wear (BDU, agency t-shirt (long sleeve or short sleeve), boots, etc.).
- Running shoes
- Tactical clothing for laboratory and practical exercises
- Long-sleeve shirts for NLTA exercises
- Gloves for caving ladders
- Kneepads recommended but not required.
- Students with tactical gear issued by their agency may wear their gear during training. If students do not have agency issued tactical gear, The FLETC will provide the required gear.
