Director Thomas J. Walters is in Artesia, New Mexico, preparing for the Office of Artesia Operations 30th Anniversary Celebration. While touring the grounds and observing training, Supervisory U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Jamie Turley recognized Director Walters from his time at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy. From 1999 to 2004, Director Walters was the Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, South Carolina, when Turley was in training. “This is a great example of a full circle in the field,” said Director Walters. “Turley was a U.S. Border Patrol trainee of mine, and now we share responsibility for preparing new agents to do their job in their operating environment.” Turley thanked Director Walters for his leadership, then and now.
