Charleston, SC – On November 22, 2024, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) held the 20th Anniversary Celebration for its Charleston Training Delivery Point (TDP) in South Carolina.
FLETC Charleston is situated on the site of the former Charleston Naval Base. It is one of three FLETC residential training sites in the United States. The Charleston facility officially entered the FLETC inventory through legislation in Fiscal Year (FY) 2003, when FLETC was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security.
“As we look back at the history of FLETC-Charleston, it is remarkable how far we’ve come in just two decades,” remarked FLETC Deputy Director Paul E. Baker. “Operations began here at FLETC-Charleston on October 1, 2004, marking the start of our commitment at this facility to training the dedicated individuals who protect and serve our nation.”
The Charleston facility comprises over 200 acres. Additionally, FLETC-Charleston has an agreement with the U.S. Air Force for outdoor firearms training ranges located on the Joint Base Charleston-Weapons Station in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all our partners and stakeholders for your continued support,” stated Deputy Baker. “Together, we have built a solid foundation here at FLETC-Charleston, and I am confident that, with your ongoing collaboration, we will continue to achieve greater success in the years to come. Here’s to the next 20 years and to a bright future filled with continued excellence, innovation, and partnership.”
A component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, FLETC provides basic and career-long training to law enforcement professionals to help them fulfill their responsibilities safely and proficiently. FLETC trains and supports the training of federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers and international partners that are responsible for enforcing law, treaties, and regulations with the United States and abroad.
