The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) is proud to announce the selection of Daniel G. Sperco as the new Assistant Director for the Core Training Operations Directorate (CTO). Starting September 8, 2024, Mr. Sperco will lead a critical component of FLETC’s mission, overseeing the Firearms Division, Driver and Marine Division, Enforcement Operations Division, Physical Techniques Division, and Core Instructor Resourcing Division.
Mr. Sperco brings over two decades of distinguished service to this role, having recently served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAIC) of the United States Secret Service (USSS) FLETC training branch. There, he provided strategic direction and executive oversight for USSS training programs at both the Glynco and Artesia facilities, refining the curriculum to meet the evolving needs of federal law enforcement.
Before his work at FLETC, Mr. Sperco played a key role in the USSS Protective Detail Training Section at the James J. Rowley Training Center, where he led a comprehensive review of the protective detail training curriculum. His efforts ensured the program aligned with the USSS's long-term vision and successfully coordinated training for the 2020 Presidential campaign.
Mr. Sperco’s federal career began in 1999 as a police officer with the United States Capitol Police, followed by his 2001 appointment as a Special Agent with the USSS. His assignments included high-level protective advance work for the President and First Family, among other critical operations. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law and Justice from the College of New Jersey and completion of the Senior Executive Service Candidacy Development Program.
As Mr. Sperco steps into his new role, FLETC looks forward to his leadership in enhancing its training operations. His appointment not only marks a new chapter for FLETC but also serves as an opportunity to strengthen recruitment and retention within the organization. Please join us in congratulating Daniel G.
